Hollow Tomato Fruit - What to Do When Tomato Plants Are Hollow
It is easier to happen that
tomatoes in winter greenhouse are likely to grow intumescent and hollow fruits, which impacts the output directly and decreases their quality and normal flavor.
The direct reason that results in hollow disease is the irrigation temperature indoor which is lower than 7℃. Under such temperature, the roots of tomatoes contracts with cold, leading to a decrease of roots vitality and water-absorbing quality. If the fruit is in a swelling period, due to the lack of water supply, the phenomenon of less fruit meat will be easy to occur.
Although the ground temperature will rise and roots restore water absorption, the swelling fruits will never grow back their meat in hollow parts.
Therefore, the water temperature in
tomato winter greenhouse should increase to 10℃ in advance.
Methods: storing
irrigating water at a corner of the greenhouse, complete the irrigation after the water temperature increases. Then, the hollow tomato problems can be avoided.
